Jyoti Gupta is a very well-known community activist who has been involved in community activities for last 25 years. Her passion, dedication and devotion to music led her to cofound many singing private groups like Gate Jharne, Mehil e Sangeet, The Karaoke Club, Karaoke Ladies Club ,Friday Karaoke and Muhmmmad Rafi and Lata Mangeshkar fan club. She was the President of Adabi Sangam, one of the oldest Poetry and singing group in New York. She co-founded LILC in 2017 .She has been very actively involved in India Association of Long Island for last several years. She has held many positions like Executive Committee Member, Sangeet Forum Chair and Event Advisor in this organization. The Sangeet Forum was her brainchild, which she nurtured in the beginning, and now it has become a very successful forum in IALI. Everybody seeks her advice and help to start a new organization because of her experience and organizational skills. These are only some of the organizations she is currently involved. She has also actively participated in many other organizations like the Indian American Forum and IDP. She is very religious. She has founded religious singing groups like Jai Ma Vaishno Devi and Daati. She commands respect and admiration among her friends. She is very willing to share her knowledge and experience with newcomers in music. Above all, she is very humble and selfless in all her community activities.
She has a master’s degree in political science from Jabalpur University in India, which she earned with top honors. She passed the IAS exam in India. From her early childhood, she was involved in many social activities like drama, singing, and sports. She was an excellent cadet in the NCC. She was chosen by NCC to represent her state in a horse riding competition during the Republic Day parade in New Delhi. She is an avid sportsman who excelled in Table Tennis and Badminton.
She migrated to the United States in 1983. She had a very successful career in investment banking in the United States, where she was an assistant treasurer. However, due to the long hours involved, she decided to quit banking to spend more time with her young sons. She started her own Travel business, which she ran very successfully for many years. She founded Long Island Ladies Circle with Pinki to empower women.
Jyoti Gupta is happily married. She lives in Long Island with her husband, Hargovind Gupta, and their sons, Sean and Neil. Her husband is a retired computer professional, and her older son is a radiologist in a well-known hospital in Manhattan, and heryounger son is in finance.
